2019
Our two founders met and completed their graduate studies in Environment, Development and Sustainability (EDS) at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. The program laid the foundations for their subsequent pursuits in the development sector, where they spent the next two years working in the renewable energy and social science research fields.
Their work and studies seamlessly integrated across various sub-disciplines in both the natural and social sciences where they learned to translate knowledge into action, producing work that resulted in sound public policy and good governance to drive the Sustainable Development Goals at various levels.
2022
Coming from both European and Asian backgrounds, our founders identified many interesting concepts and ideas when exchanging thoughts and knowledge from their respective regions. The mutual exchange which began during their university days conducting joint research projects in Southeast Asia continued to be beneficial as they moved on to their professional careers.
Seeing how much they had benefitted from the dialogue and cooperation (utilizing the different perspectives and ways of knowing from both regions to collaborate on small-scale development projects), they saw the need for an organization that would bring that concept to scale in order to benefit people in both continents. Thus Europa Asien Entwicklungs-Initiative was founded as a means to promote and strengthen the solidarity and reciprocity between the peoples of Europe and Asia.
